A THICK SLAB OF POPPY SEED BREAD

Poems by Rhonda Adamson

Paperback.  68 pgs.  $14.95

The only reason why I was anxious to read this book is

because of the title!  Which also proves a point - titles do sell!

For we who enjoy poetry and prose, and yes there is a difference,

this book by Rhonda Adamson will prove to be of challenge,

inspiration and one may even say "perspiration".

A Thick Slab of Poppy Seed Bread is not one of dainty, sweet

poems.  It is what the title reflects in the words  "A Thick Slice . . . "

This reviewer found the poems and prose to stimulate thought.

Some of the poems, if not most of them are indeed quite "thick",

meaning of great depth according to one definition of "thick".

There is no way I would even attempt to select one of the poems

in this book as a "favorite" of mine.  They're all excellent but I must

confess a few were a bit beyond my full comprehension; which

probably does not speak will of my ability to comprehend!!!

Whatever poems fill your appetite, you are sure to find many in

this book.  Rhonda Adamson has indeed "baked" a thick and

tasty slab of poetry and prose that will be on your menu for

reading and re-reading.

The poetess, Rhonda Adamson, probably will not find this

excellent volume on the top-ten list of best-sellers of the

New York Times; but certainly A Thick Slab of Poppy Seed

Bread will be on the list of those who love poetry and prose

that say "think on these things".  No, this new book will not be

read at the afternoon tea parties, but it will be read, or should

be read, by those who are seeking a deeper ('thicker') spiritual

path to life.
